From the outset of academic degrees and graduate education in 1990, NBU has worked closely on joint graduate-training programs with Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Northwestern Polytechnic University, University of Science and Technology of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences and other prestigious universities and institutes.
NBU was entitled to offer graduate programs in 1998, and doctoral programs in 2007. There are 6 primary doctoral programs, 30 primary master programs, 22 professional master programs. The university is home to more than 7,000 graduate students.
There are about 250 Ph.D. supervisors, 1,489 graduate supervisors, and around 500 part-time graduate supervisors.
Thanks to reform efforts devoted to training graduates, NBU has established a multi-tiered training model for innovative talents, as well as a supportive system for innovation and quality at graduate study.
In recent years, NBU has been honored with a myriad of rewards and titles including 1 second prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award for Higher Education, 2 first prizes of the Teaching Achievement Award of Zhejiang Higher Education, 1 second prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award for education study, 1 national experimental teaching demo center for joint graduates in education study, 3 teaching demo centers for graduates in Zhejiang Province, 13 model cases shortlisted on the database of China Case Center for Professional Degrees Education. As the first batch of certified pilot institutes for graduate course construction, NBU boasts more than 100 demo courses at faculty and university level. All these pave the way for an improved outcomes of graduate training, ranking NBU among Top 100 universities in academic degrees and graduate education.
